AICE MEDIA STUIDES PROJECT

I'm going to do the magazine project. I selected the magazine because I feel like this project better suits my strengths. I like to do graphic design and create things the are aesthetically pleasing. The magazine project lets me practice these skills, and it also gives me a chance to practice my writing skills. In addition to this, I like to work alone which the magazine project will benefit from. I also think it will be easier to produce the best project quality possible. For my magazine, I want to do a mix of a sports and lifestyle magazine about circus. I want to do my project about circus because I'm part of Sailor Circus, a youth circus program, and want more people to be educated about circus. Additionally, circus is a good subject because I have lots of access to information and theres lots of opportunities for pictures and photoshoots.

I think the film project would be a great challenge for me. I don't have a lot of experience with making a film or a movie, so I think that would be the biggest challenge. The process of making a movie sounds fun though, but I think it would be really hard. I'm also not experienced with camera work or shooting techniques. Seeing as these are essential parts of the project, I may struggle with completing it. However, I like seeing how things come together and having a final product that I could see would be extremely satisfying. I like to come up with new ways of how to do things, so a director role would suit me. Also, I'm really interested in design and makeup; so having those elements in my project would be a good fit.

Project Selection - Magazine I would choose a magazine project because I'm interested in design and I'm a good writer. The different aspects that go into making a magazine such as taking photos, writing articles, and conducting interviews are all strong points of mine. I have good person to person communication skills, and feel like by doing a magazine I could not only practice these skills but improve them. I also am good at figuring out what people are interested, which is an important part of magazine design. Drawbacks of a magazine project are that it requires a lot of creativity and patience. Coming up with ideas for 100 different pages is going to be a difficult task to complete. Also, doing photoshoots in multiple locations might be a challenge. It requires a lot of advance planning and coordination. Overall though, I feel like a magazine project would really play to my strengths.
