Final Submission

Image
For my final revisions to my project, I decided to take the advice and structure the text boxes so they look better and the writing isn't all cramped up. I also switched some of the pictures around because I felt that the fire breathing was more impactful. Additionally, I moved the quote so the writing flowed better than it did before. I went back and made sure everything was uniform to ensure the most professional looking product as well.

CCR Question #4 Draft

4.    How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project? For my project, I used all three different types of technology - software, hardware, and online. Hardware was my least used category as I only used a hard drive.I took all my pictures on my phone, which is an iPhone 8+.  By using it, I was able to effectively work on my project at home. By being able to do this, I was able to manage my time well and work effectively. For the software elements, I used Photoshop, Indesign, and a little bit of Lightroom. In Photoshop, I used the move tool, the text tool, the frame tool, and the zoom tool. These tools were the ones necessary to help me create my magazine. In Lightroom, I used the different settings to help enhance my photos. Some of these features were exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, and sharpening. All of these were used to enhance my pictures. In Indesign, I used the selection tool, the type tool, and the rectangle frame t...

CCR Question #3 Draft

3.  How did your production skills develop throughout this project? At the beginning of the project, I had no idea what I was doing. Previous to taking this course I liked to take pictures on my phone and like do some editing with apps to them. I knew what photoshop was but not how to use it, and I knew that there were other Adobe programs but was not aware of what thy did. For the first draft of my magazine, I made it in photoshop. I learned how to use all of the different tools and it made my magazine look pretty good. By being able to make the pictures more vibrant and play with the lighting and settings, I was able to make them really pop. When it came time for my third quarter submission, our teacher showed us how to use Indesign. By using Indesign, I was able to make my magazine appear even more professional. I also used Adobe Lightroom a little to enhance my photographs as well. I learned a lot about what good lighting does for a photo and what lighting is good for differe...

CCR Question #2 Draft

Question #2:    How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?     Magazines traditionally have lots of methods of  distribution. The main way magazines used to be distributed is through print. People would either buy them from a rack at the grocery store or at a newsstand  This was before technology was a big thing and people could only get their news from print sources like the news and magazines. Nowadays, more and more magazines are transferring to online distribution and marketing techniques techniques. Some magazines like ESPN have even gone completely digital. These new techniques include posting online content, utilizing social media platforms, sending out email newsletters, and hosting events. All of these strategies help to boost audience engagement for the magazine. For my magazine I plan to have social media platforms such as Instagram and Twitter. In ad...

CCR Question #1 Draft

Question #1:  How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?     My magazine follows most of the standard magazine conventions. For the cover of my magazine, I decided to use a singular subject matter. For my shoot, I went to the Venice Chalk festival; as I walked in, I saw this giant elephant and thought "This would be perfect for my magazine." The wide shot lets you see the subject entirely, which is standard for most magazine covers. For example, big magazines like Sports Illustrated often use a dominant cover image. Another convention that I used in my magazine was the bold cover text along with bright colors. As I was doing research on different types of magazines, a common theme was a big and colorful title. A lot of companies employ this tactic to draw readers attention in. I wanted my title to have a big impact so I kept the color plain, but I chose a unique font. This helps to catch someones eye when looking...
